he Interfaith Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence is leading an innovative national initiative on domestic violence and guns – and we want you to be a part of it! We’ve united 500 clergy and faith-based organizations from a diverse range of traditions on a letter asking Congress to close loopholes that endanger the lives of abuse and stalking victims. Now we’re asking you to join us in a call to action.
Over half of all women killed by intimate partners were murdered with a gun. Nearly half of all intimate partner homicides were committed by a dating partner, and more than three-quarters of women killed by intimate partners were also stalked by their abuser. Yet perpetrators convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence against a dating partner or misdemeanor stalking can still freely access firearms, despite posing a significant risk to the safety of the victim.
It’s simple: When abusers have guns, women die.
ON MAY 18, JOIN OUR NATIONAL FAITH CALL-IN DAY ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND GUNS, AND TELL CONGRESS THAT IT’S TIME TO ACT ON LEGISLATION TO PROTECT ALL WOMEN FROM GUN VIOLENCE AT THE HANDS OF DANGEROUS ABUSERS.
Take action and join the call

What is the Interfaith Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence?
The coalition, convened by Jewish Women International, is composed of 38 national faith organizations, including the We Will Speak Out US coalition and IMA World Health, that come together to advocate for national legislation and public policies that protect all people from domestic and sexual violence, with particular concern for women and families. The Coalition meets bimonthly to consider legislative initiatives, sponsor Congressional briefings and educational events, and participate in advocacy days. The coalition works collaboratively with national secular domestic and sexual violence organizations creating a powerful and dynamic partnership.
